South Africa Holidays & Tours

Beautiful landscapes, amazing wildlife, friendly people, tasty inexpensive food and wines, interesting culture and history… it’s no surprise that so many people want to holiday in South Africa. We know the country extremely well with several of our consultants originating from South Africa and others that have lived there. We specialise in small owner-run establishments that have set new standards for quality. People value the exceptional hospitality, a key ingredient for any memorable holiday.

The Rainbow Nation – holidays in South Africa

Few countries in Africa can provide such a variety of attractions and diverse range of experience, with such high standards of hospitality. South Africa is best savoured over more than one trip, with the favourite first holiday often a visit to Cape Town and along the Garden Route, with a safari at the end. This is an exciting mix of vibrant city life, winelands, beaches, forests and wildlife, with great food and stylish hospitality throughout.

The East Side

The east side of the country offers an altogether different experience: the huge wildlife reserves of Kruger and Hluhluwe, dramatic mountainous landscapes of Blyde River Canyon and the Drakensberg, pristine Indian Ocean beaches, tropical vegetation, historic battlefields and cultural insights from the Shangaan and the Zulu people. Explore this area year-round, most favourably during their sunny, dry winter – May to September – when it is warm but not too wet or humid.

Malaria-free areas – Eastern Cape and Madikwe

South Africa is the only safari country in the world where you can view the Big-Five in malaria-free areas ( the Eastern Cape and Madikwe) making it ideal for families. An Eastern Cape safari is an easy add-on to a Garden Route tour, and Madikwe is only a short hop from Johannesburg.

Johannesburg

Vibrant Johannesburg is a ‘must do’ for those interested in history and culture: there is the apartheid museum, Lilieslief Farm and the Hector Pieterson Museum. We can also arrange overnight stays in the fascinating Soweto Township.

Self-drive South Africa holidays

To truly enjoy this extraordinary country we encourage independent travel. Many of our clients drive themselves, aided by our maps and comprehensive driving directions. You drive on the left hand side in South Africa as you do in the UK, and the roads are generally much less busy in comparison with Europe. As well as the Winelands and Garden Route, KwaZulu Natal is an ideal area for a self-drive tour of South Africa.

Escorted small group South Africa tours

We can also organise places on scheduled departure tours for those who enjoy travelling in a group. South Africa tours can be fun and companionable, and a good way to experience as much of the country as possible.

We can also supply driver/guides for those who prefer a private experience, but who do not want to drive themselves.
